Discrimination
Harassment is another form of discrimination. In employment law, harassment is where a person is subjected to unwanted conduct which violates that person's dignity or creates a humiliating or offensive environment and the conduct is based on the grounds of race, sex (including conduct of a sexual nature), disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, age, religion or belief. Employers should be aware that they need to ensure that none of their employees treat their colleagues in a manner that amounts to discrimination, as the employer will be liable for those actions in an employment law claim. A proper internal policy should be in effect and care should be taken to ensure it is adhered to by everyone, and that employees are treated with dignity and respect at work. If a grievance is raised by an employee relating to discrimination you, as the employer, need to take it very seriously and undertake a through investigation and appropriate action to ensure it is correctly dealt with.
