I Have A Problem With An Employee

Many employers are exasperated by all of the new employment law and are frustrated by the amount of time it takes to deal with various employment law issues.  Over the years, our employment law clients have come to us for advice on a wide range of problems - from incentive scheme issues to changing terms and conditions to managing sickness absence.  The most common problem for employers however is where they are considering the dismissal of an employee.

Some of the relevant factors to consider are: -

  • How long have you employed the employee?
  • Is it a personality clash?
  • Are you worried about the employee's performance?
  • Is it misconduct or gross misconduct?

There is no ‘one size fits all' solution in employment law.  If you are a large employer then you will have the assistance of your HR Department to manage the process.  Highly trained HR staff will only need assistance in the more unusual situations.  If you are a small or mid-size business and HR is dealt with by management, it could well be more effective to have regular outside support.  We are able to offer yearly packages at a very competitive yearly quote.  Remember that an employment law claim can result in an award of above £60,000 for the employee and that this figure is net of tax, so you could end up paying even more if they are successful.
