Can I Claim?

There are certain circumstances in employment law when your employer does not have to give you notice.   For example, your employment contract may contain a clause allowing the employer to make a payment in lieu of notice on termination.   In these circumstances your employer can make a notice payment instead of allowing you to work your notice and that payment will be taxed.   Alternatively, if you are dismissed for gross misconduct then under employment law your employer does not have to give you notice or make a payment in lieu of notice.  If you are, or may be, dismissed for gross misconduct you should contact an employment lawyer, as soon as possible, to find out your rights.
